Vegan Beyond Beef Tacos

Beyond Meat’s “Beyond Beef” is packed with protein and is lower in fat than common ground beef. Try this plant-based and sustainable meat alternative for something new and delicious.

Beyond Beef has great texture and distinct flavor. Some consumers say the flavor of the unseasoned “meat” doesn’t work for them. I’ve discovered that seasoning it well is imperative. Adding sweet flavors from ingredients like honey, brown sugar, or even corn complements Beyond Beef incredibly well.


Recipe: (Taco Seasoning)

  • 1 tbsp ancho chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

  1. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients.

Recipe: (Tacos)

  • 1/4 medium yellow onion
  • 1 lb Beyond Meat “Beyond Beef”
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Corn tortillas
  • 1/2 medium avocado
  • 1/4 cup corn
  • 1/2 lime


Directions:

  1. Finely chop the yellow onion and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add in onion and cook until golden brown.
  4. Add the Beyond Beef and use a spatula to crumble it in the pan. Cook until it browns. This should take about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to medium and add in the taco seasoning. Add in 1/2 cup water and mix the seasoning in.
  6. Simmer until the water has evaporated. This should take 3-5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and add to your tortillas.
  8. Top with corn, then add your favorite vegetables or lettuce. Finish with avocado.
