Honey Glazed Salmon
Packed with protein and high in omega-3, salmon is a healthy and more sustainable alternative to many other meats. Add low carb and low fat mashed cauliflower along with your favorite vegetable for a balanced and filling meal.
Recipe:
(Serves 2)
- 2 6oz salmon filets
- 1/8 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Directions:
- Rinse and dry the salmon filets.
- Mix the soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, cayenne, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Set aside.
- Mince the garlic cloves and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a pan on medium heat.
- Before the oil begins to smoke, place salmon filets skin down (if they have skin) and cook for about 6 minutes. A spatula should be able to easily slide under the filets after 6 minutes.
- Flip the salmon over and add the minced garlic to the edge of the pan. Sauté the garlic for 1 minute or until it becomes golden brown.
- Reduce heat to medium low and pour in your honey and soy mixture.
- Cook for about 6 more minutes, or until the sauce has reduced by 1/3 to 1/2.
- If the salmon has skin, flip back over for 2 minutes and baste the salmon with the sauce. If it is skinless, baste for the remaining 2 minutes.
- Remove salmon from heat and allow to cool for 2 minutes before serving. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions or chives.
